OUR STORY
We are five ordinary women (Germaine, Kathy, Georgi, Jane and Jessica) with one extraordinary mission -- to raise a collective $16,800 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, for the fight against blood cancers. WHOA -- you read it correctly -- $16,800 greenbacks!!
But wait...we'll be doing this WHILE training with the Team in Training program to complete the 26.2 mile Marathon in Chicago this October.
No doubt we can do this..... we are five multitasking women on a mission. Need I say more??
This mission of ours was birthed (five women - of course we had to fit birthing in here some where!) two days after we completed the Philadelphia marathon together. While still on a huge high from our accomplishments, we learned that our good friend and running partner Lucianna Di Meglio was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. It was a no brainer at that point. We would run Chicago with Team in Training to honor Lucianna and the thousands of others who suffer from blood cancers. This time it's not about us and our egos. It's about them.
LUCIANNA'S STORY
Our honored patient is our friend and fellow runner Lucianna Di Meglio (check out the photos section). Lucianna is a beautiful, athletic, vibrant 37-year-old Oncology nurse who gives of herself every day in the fight against cancers, and who ran her first marathon, five years ago, with Team in Training. Lucianna is now fighting her own battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.

Team in Training, the fundraising leg of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, was rated by Money Magazine as one of the top ten charities for having the highest percentage of funds raised -- over 75% -- that directly benefits research and family services.
